We recently announced the successful finalists in our GeoVation Challenge to encourage people in Britain to get active outdoors. We asked for innovative ideas to encourage active lifestyles in the open; using geography, particularly Ordnance Survey products and services, technology and good design.
The finalists from the GeoVation Challenge participated in an energetic weekend of no nonsense innovation at GeoVation Camp. The GeoVators focussed on the formula that Innovation = Problem x Solution x Execution to help them to develop their ideas. They also practiced their presentations so they would be ‘match fit to pitch’ to the judging panel. Participants were impressed by the level of support, which included help with service design, business models, geography and engaging with Ordnance Survey data. The teams commented on how well their ideas progressed over the weekend. At the end of the weekend successful finalists were selected to receive funding to develop their ideas to help people get active. The judging panel meet again on 26 March 2014 to confirm this.
