Don’t miss the Real Farm Festival this weekend
This weekend (17 – 19 June) sees the Real Farm Festival, being held at Church Farm, Hertfordshire, a midsummer, hands-on farming weekend with talks and workshops. Church Farm is a mixed, high welfare 175-acre farm run predominantly by young people who care about the future of real food. Discover the secret life of vegetables, herbs, fruit, pigs, chickens, sheep and cows and unwind with music and food back at farm camp.
There’ll be some special farm loving projects to get stuck into with young farmers and expert artisans, as well as live acts, performance poets, yoga sessions, fascinating talks and workshops, and plenty of fresh farm food.
You can take part in a series of conversations on the science, philosophy and practicalities of farming for real food, with speakers from Soil Association, Organic Research Centre, Campaign for Real Farming, Self Knowledge Global Responsibility, Pesticide Action Network, FARM:shop, Agrarian Renaissance, and Ecological land Co-operative.
Bring your chef hat for the camp-wide Pot Luck Cooking Challenge where you and your campfire buddies will have one big farm box and two hours to create some delicious dishes. Don’t forget to bring an instrument for Tractor Factor, wellies for feeding the pigs and clothes for general mud stomping!
