Partner with Geovation 

Geovation is Ordnance Survey’s open innovation hub. We help partners unlock the value of location, property and land data by connecting them with ambitious startups, real-world challenges, technical expertise and a thriving innovation ecosystem. 

We work with government bodies, data providers, corporates, challenge owners and ecosystem partners who want to test new ideas, support entrepreneurs, explore new markets or create more impact from their data. Our strength is helping early-stage startups understand, access and build valuable products from some of the UK’s most important foundational datasets. 

By partnering with Geovation, organisations can gain insight into emerging markets, engage directly with innovators, run targeted innovation programmes, and support startups that are solving problems with genuine commercial and societal value. Whether you want to open up data, shape a challenge, grow a sector or build stronger routes to market, we can help. 

Here are some examples of how we have worked with partners to create value: 

HM Land Registry  

We have partnered with HM Land Registry since 2017 to deliver the PropTech places on our Accelerator Programme and support the broader PropTech ecosystem. Through this partnership, Geovation members gain exclusive access to HM Land Registry’s Developer Licence for the National Polygon Service, alongside expert support to help them understand and apply the dataset effectively. This gives startups access to high-value property data while helping HM Land Registry engage with innovators who can demonstrate new uses for its data. Find out more here. 

Registers of Scotland 

Since 2019, our partnership with Registers of Scotland (RoS) has supported the delivery of Geovation Scotland. Geovation Scotland runs an Accelerator Programme as an extension of Geovation’s programme in England and Wales, with the Geovation team providing the community, technical support and data access. RoS uses this partnership to support the Scottish entrepreneurial ecosystem and unlock the value of location, property and land data for the Scottish market. It also helps RoS understand demand for its own datasets and explore how they can be developed and distributed to create more value. Find out more here. 

Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government 

In 2025 we joined forces with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to deliver Round 6 of the PropTech Innovation Challenge. The challenge focused on how technology and data could help unlock barriers to the delivery of new homes in the UK. By working with Geovation, MHCLG was able to connect policy priorities with startup innovation, supporting practical ideas that could address one of the country’s most pressing challenges. Find out more here. 

Carbon 13 

To support founders tackling climate-related problems, we agreed a partnership with Carbon13 in 2025, focused on its Venture Builder programme. Carbon13 ran its Venture Builder from the Geovation Hub, while our technical team provided data expertise to help aspiring founders understand how location and property data could strengthen their products. Several startups that began on the Carbon13 Venture Builder have since joined Geovation’s Accelerator Programme, creating a clear route from early exploration to deeper support. Find out more here.
