Welcome to our 2024 roundup! We’re excited to share and reflect on the wonderful journey we’ve had at Geovation Scotland this year. It’s been an action-packed twelve months filled with inspiring moments, breakthrough achievements and collaborations that have helped shape Scotland’s vibrant tech community. 

Who are we? 

Geovation Scotland is a partnership between Registers of Scotland and Ordnance Survey, supporting startups working in location, land and property technology in Scotland. 

There have been so many standout moments over the last 12 months and, but we thought we would share a few of our highlights… 

Cohort 5 Showcase in March 2024 

In March, we hosted the Accelerator Programme Showcase at Yotel Edinburgh, where our Cohort 5 startups stole the show. Five amazing teams shared their innovative ideas with a room full of friendly faces – from investors to tech innovators and fellow startup founders.

The atmosphere was electric as we heard solutions for active travel, building retrofitting, healthcare, luggage storage and land management come to life. 

Geovation Scotland joined LinkedIn 

March also saw us join LinkedIn, let’s look back at one of our posts, introducing the Geovation Scotland team. 

Geovation’s Geospatial Innovation Awards  

June brought us the Geospatial Innovation Awards. An evening celebrating the clever ways people are using location data to make our world better, and 2024’s awards saw the first ever Scottish Geospatial Technology category.   

We saw brilliant ideas from a range of inventive companies; with a special mention going to winner EmergencyLocate, who have built a platform to overcome communication barriers, pinpoint location & coordinate responders in an emergency situations.

The Future of Proptech in Scotland Chapters 1 & 2 

Our collaboration with BE-ST (Built Environment – Smarter Transformation) led to some fantastic get-togethers this year.  

The Future of Proptech in Scotland Chapters 1 & 2 saw bright minds sharing ideas about technology for the development of the built environment and sustainable solutions. These sessions sparked new connections and fostered ideation within the proptech sector. 

Achievements of Supported Startups  

We’re incredibly proud to share that the startups we have supported over the last 5 years passed the £4million mark of additional investment raised, in fact it’s now nearly £5 million! But it’s not just about the money – they’ve created 78 new jobs and are now helping businesses and people across Scotland and beyond.

Introduction to Cohort 6 

In June, we welcomed six wonderful new startups to our Geovation Scotland family. From making courier deliveries more efficient to creating software-based tools for the construction industry, each one brings fresh ideas and enthusiasm to tackle real-world challenges.
