Next in our meet the founder series is Jamie Noble of lintels.in. In this edition, Jamie will share more about how lintels.in is tackling a problem within the rental market, and what he wants to achieve during the Geovation Scotland accelerator programme.

Tell us about your startup – what problem are you solving and why does it matter?

At lintels.in, we’re building technology to detect and prevent unauthorised subletting and short-term letting. Across the UK, a significant number of homes are being rented out without permission, often against tenancy agreements or lending terms. This reduces the supply of homes available for those who need them most and creates compliance and financial risks for landlords, lenders and insurers.

Our solution will soon provide a simple, automated way to spot potential sublets, helping organisations act quickly and fairly.

Tell us more about the team at lintels.in and their background.

I’ve spent over 20 years working in startups and big tech, leading commercial and product roles. That background has given me a strong understanding of how to take an idea from early concept through to scalable product.

What inspired you to start this company?

The idea came after stumbling across Direct Line’s research into the scale of unauthorised subletting.

It sparked a simple question: who is actually solving this problem?

Following my research, I couldn’t find anyone building the kind of solution I had in mind, a technology-first, scalable approach to detection.

What are lintels.in’s goals during the accelerator programme?

Our focus during the programme is to:

  • Use Ordnance Survey and Registers of Scotland data to strengthen our matching and location intelligence
  • Secure funding to take the platform beyond pilots
  • Work with Geovation Scotland’s experts to fill knowledge gaps, and work on areas we’re not as comfortable in

What’s been your proudest moment so far as a founder?

Being accepted into Geovation Scotland’s accelerator programme has been the proudest moment so far. It was real validation of the idea and confirmed that others see the same opportunity and importance in solving this problem.

Are you currently looking for partners, investors, or talent? How can people support you?

Yes. We’re looking for partners who want to pilot the technology and help shape it. We are open to discussions with investors who believe in the opportunity to create a new standard for compliance and housing security.

As the platform grows, we’ll also be looking for talent in data engineering, geospatial intelligence and customer success. Follow our website for updates.
