Introducing Cohort 7 | RunV

By

With our 7th annual accelerator programme officially under way, we wanted to introduce you to each of our founders and highlight the problems they are trying to solve. As the first of a six-part series, we asked co-founder Grant MacMillan to tell us more about the team at RunV and their goals during the accelerator programme.

Tell us about your startup – what problem are you solving and why does it matter?

RunV is building the world’s most adaptive AI running coach. Traditional training plans are one-size-fits-all, but every runner is different. We’re solving the challenge of personalisation at scale: giving beginners the confidence to start safely and helping experienced athletes push toward their goals with data-driven precision. By integrating with leading wearables, RunV delivers real-time adaptive training that evolves with each runner making elite-style coaching accessible to everyone.

Tell us more about the team at RunV and your background?

RunV was founded by Grit Agility Ltd, a team combining deep expertise in software development, AI, and sport.

Alex Wray, CTO, leads the technical side, with a strong background in app development and wearable integration. Grant MacMillan, CEO, brings two decades of global software sales and startup experience, having scaled a wellness brand across three continents. Together, we’re blending technical innovation with commercial know-how to create a product built for real-world runners.

What inspired you to start this company? Was there a personal story behind it?

Like many runners, we’ve experienced the frustration of generic training plans that don’t reflect individual progress or setbacks. Injuries, time constraints, and fluctuating motivation are realities every runner faces but existing tools rarely adapt. RunV was born from the desire to democratise high-quality coaching, using AI to make training smarter, more personalised, and more human.

What are RunV’s goals during the accelerator programme?

Our focus during Geovation Scotland’s accelerator is threefold:

1. Refine our AI engine with real-world runner feedback

2. Strengthen partnerships with wearable and health platforms

3. Build the foundations for scale in both the UK and US markets

The programme gives us the support, connections, and accountability we need to accelerate growth.

What’s been your proudest moment so far as a founder?

Seeing runners from complete beginners to elite athletes adopt RunV and share how it’s changing their training. Our proudest moment came when a user told us:

“I finally feel like I have a coach who listens to me, not just a plan on paper.”

That’s the impact we set out to make.

Are you currently looking for partners, investors, or talent? How can people support you?

Yes, we’re actively looking for partners in the running and wellness ecosystem, investors to support our next stage of growth, and talent passionate about AI, health tech, and sport.

Anyone who shares our vision can support us by connecting with us at runv.app or following our Strava running club.
