Building Passport’s vision is to make the worldwide built environment a safer place. Their mission is to collect building information on a building-by-building basis and keep a record of all stakeholders that have contributed to its construction and operation over time. As Iain Thomson, COO of Assent Building Control – the UK’s largest approved inspector, states; ‘Building Passport is the first step in creating the ‘Golden Thread’ of building information, highlighted by Dame Judith Hackitt in her response to the Grenfell disaster, to promote safety and transparency of information in the built environment.’
Building Passport was founded by Rupert Parker in March 2020. They joined the 10th cohort of the Geovation Accelerator Programme the following month. Their MVP platform was released October of that year, and by December they had already exceeded 100 users. Building Passport is now offered by a number of approved inspectors and architects to their clients, and a number of large landlords and operators such as The Collective have adopted the system.
Since graduating the programme Rupert has grown the team to 5 members, appointed Board Advisors including Sir Ken Knight, former Chief Fire and Rescue Advisor for England, and successfully raised £250k in additional funding. Building Passport is now valued at an estimated £2.5 million.
