Success looks different for every founder and start-up. Whilst it may seem like the default to think about what big milestones have been reached, even just surviving as a start-up is an amazing achievement for many!
Geovation is lucky to have worked with so many amazing and innovative start-ups over the years. To celebrate our start-ups successes we’re reflecting on what some of them have achieved this past year! We wish we could’ve included every achievement our start-ups had over the past year, big and small, but we would be here all day!
ProxyAddress One of TIME‘s Best Inventions of 2021
Help people escape the Catch-22 of losing an address by offering them an address they can use to keep their access to support.
In November 2021, ProxyAddress were named as one of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2021! ProxyAddress were on our Accelerator Programme in 2017. In 2021 a trial of Proxy Address was run in Lewisham to provide the Homeless with a ProxyAddress, ensuring their details and ability to access critical support has remained constant throughout the pandemic. ProxyAddress plans to expand to more cities in the U.K. before expanding further.
LandTech Secure £42 Million Funding
LandTech helps developers with land buying by providing data on prices, the likelihood of securing planning consent and estimates on building costs.
We’re delighted to hear that LandTech have secured £42 million in funding to expand their business with plans to double staff headcount.
Geovation is proud to have actively supported them in their startup/incubation phase and they were some of our first entrepreneurs in-residence at our London Hub!

Carbon Co-op win Ashden Award
Carbon Co-op help to boost key skills for the green workforce the UK needs to upgrade homes and make them more energy efficient.
Carbon Co-op won the Ashden Award at COP26 climate summit for Green Skills for their work on People Powered Retrofit service! The winners were chosen from over 800 applicants for their work creating fairer societies and green economies including jobs and training.
Carbon Co-op were a Geovation Challenge winner in 2014.They have trained more than 1,000 contractors to deliver home energy efficiency upgrades. After training, they help builders find projects and contracts to use their new skills.
GetGround are on a mission to make assets more transparent, trustworthy and accessible, GetGround continues to launch a number of complementary services for property investors, such as access to GetGround’s panel of mortgage lender partners, with recent collaborations including Habito and Molo. GetGround were part of Geovation’s 7th Cohort from October 2018.
At its current run rate, GetGround is adding $1 billion of UK property to its platform a year on behalf of thousands of landlords and investors based in more than 60 countries globally.
Electrek Explorer founder #COP26 Green Ambassador
Elecktrek Explorer aims to help tackle the climate crisis by promoting low-carbon, electric vehicle travel and nature-based tourism.
Geovation Scotland alumni Elaine Ford, founder of Electrek Explorer, was selected as a #COP26 Green Ambassador. Electrek Explorer received support from the Geovation Scotland Accelerator programme.
Electrek Explorer is launching an app to help people explore connecting low carbon electric travel with beautiful nature spots for electric bike riders. Watch the video on YouTube here.
adoor Founder Featured in TechRound 29 under 29
adoor is the platform to track your house move. Keeping everyone involved up to date, all in one place.
Congratulations to Michael Wadsworth, founder of adoor who has been featured in TechRound 29 under 29 list! Michael joined the Geovation Accelerator Programme with adoor in 2020.
Michael and adoor’s plans for the coming year are to continue to build more integrations and partnerships!
Ordnance Survey Invested in Flock
Flock do insurance differently. They are on a mission to make the world a smarter, safer place by giving fleet owners the insights they need to improve safety. Flock joined our Accelerator Programme in 2017 and their growth since has been incredible.
Flock became the first Geovation venture that Ordnance Survey exercised a share option to acquire equity. Flock recently raised $17M in funding to supercharge its expansion into new geographies and product lines.

Sail Homes launch Sail Legal
Sail Homes offers homeowners a stress-free sale by identifying the best buyer and quickly tying up the many legal details that can cause delays. Sail Homes joined the Accelerator Programme in 2020.
SailHome brought the conveyancing process in-house and opened SailLegal in October 2021 to further speed up the conveyancing process by combining the estate agency and conveyancing into one product.
Paua makes public electric vehicle charging simple with a mobile app enabling drivers to find, charge and pay for charging with one aggregated bill for the fleet manager. Paua are currently on the GeoTech track of our Accelerator Programme and they recently won their first award.
Paua won Outstanding Growth Potential for their Plug & Charge research at the Connected Places Catapult transport Expo. The award was announced by Professor Sarah Sharples, Chief Scientific Advisor for the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom.
Dataminr acquired WatchKeeper
Watchkeeper is a Advanced risk management platform to visualise, track and protect critical operations. Watchkeeper joined Geovation’s 8th cohort in April 2019 and raised £1 million from venture capitalists since the Accelerator Programme.
Dataminr acquired WatchKeeper this year, this was Dataminr’s first ever acquisition. WatchKeeper will be integrated into Dataminr Pulse, the company’s product focused on business risk clients.

SociAbility launched an app to help disabled people find accessible places and organise all the world’s accessibility information. In October 2019, they joined Geovation’s 9th accelerator cohort on the proptech stream supported by HMLR.
The app has been downloaded more than 750 times and seen more than 750 venues profiled by approximately 250 registered users.
