Yesterday we announced the great news about our 5 Wales Coast Path GeoVation Challenge winners who have been awarded a share of £125,000 in innovation funding to take forward their ideas. The ideas were submitted in a GeoVation Challenge, inspired by the opening of the Wales Coast Path in May.
We have now published a video of the winners so today you can find out more the ideas and people behind them.
One of the winning teams, Perfect Visitor Companion are looking to create a smartphone and android app with 8 multimedia video tours covering the Wales Coast Path.
Another of our winners, Food Finder plan to create an online app and offline map to help visitors find local, sustainable and delicious food (and beer).
Igam Ogam’s bi-lingual smartphone app will tell people’s local stories of the places and features along the path for visitors to the areas, while Living Paths will allow communities along the path to create a Wikipedia page and allow diverse local information to become accessible.
And finally, Growing Routes – this web-based app which will combine data from a variety of sources businesses identify opportunities of where to locate business.
You can also find out what they thought of the GeoVation process.
Our partners in the GeoVation Wales Coast Path Challenge are Technology Strategy Board’s SBRI programme, Visit Wales (Welsh Government), Ramblers Cymru and supported by the Inventorium programme.
