60 seconds with a mentee: Meet Ishan Vats Jha

By

Ishan Vats Jha (Founder of Visually Impaired People) shares his experiences of being a mentee on the Geovation Mentorship Programme.

What have you liked about the Mentorship Programme?

The mentors assigned have been a perfect fit for me and the business. I have had 2 mentors and each of them has added value based on their skill set. The relationship developed with Ashwin seems to have formed a long-term bond.

Going into the program, what did you hope to get out of it?

I wasn’t expecting much to be honest but later realised that the mentor helped me to keep in check my timelines, and goals and provide honest critical feedback on the decisions made by me.

What is one way that mentoring has changed your professional or personal life – or for your mentoring match?

I have formed more disciplined action plans and focused on the critical things in business. Additionally, I realised that prioritizing the necessary things in order is critical to running the business successfully and have managed to structure this better with my mentor.

What tips or advice would you like to share with those new to mentoring?

Be honest with your mentor, take the critics in good stride and be comfortable with getting negative feedback. Eventually, it is the mentee’s decision to make but the mentor can advise and give a critical perspective to the matter at hand.
