MaxiMap makes waves at National Waterfront Museum

MaxiMap, a GeoVation Challenge winner,  have taken their giant floor map to the National Waterfront Museum. Rowena Wells tells us what they though:

The National Waterfront Museum at Swansea tells the story of industry and innovation in Wales over the last 300 years. We went last week to meet Education Officer Mandy Westcott and took along the World MaxiMap.

True to form, as soon as the MaxiMap was laid out it attracted the attention of all around – young and not-so-young were soon on the map – families were competing to identify places – foreign visitors were showing us their home town.

Mandy was soon visibly bubbling with ideas – their next major exhibition will show the story of the copper industry in Wales; she plans to incorporate activities on the MaxiMap in her school educational programme and has asked Ann to consider involvement in the museum’s Teacher Inset events. With her enthusiasm (and clearly championship-level multi-tasking abilities) I’m sure Mandy will soon be introducing lots of new and innovative learning ideas on her MaxiMap at the Museum.
