Your opportunity for success

Think of the Programme as an ideas incubator. Whether you’re a developer, innovator or entrepreneur it’s the perfect funded start-up accelerator if you want to create a product or business using location information and technology. On the Programme you’ll get:

  • 6 months of financial support from day one.
  • 1:1s, workshops, master classes and events.
  • Bespoke developer and business support.
  • Access to software, technology and geospatial data.
  • Expert support from industry leaders.
  • Resident member status at the Geovation Hub, London.

The Programme will take you through four phases over the course of 12 months:

Phase 1 - Explore

Spend time researching your idea, opportunities and issues.

Phase 2 - Discover

Answer the who, why and what? about your idea.

Phase 3 - Create

Design, refine and build a prototype; bring your idea to life.

Phase 4 - Embark

Turn your prototype into a product, a commercial reality; and launch it.

Funding

The Programme is divided into two parts: the first is made up of phases one to three over a period of six months, where you’ll get a total of £10,000 in funding. If you successfully deliver a prototype at the end of this, you could move on to phase four, which is a further six months on the Programme with an additional £10,000 in funding. You’ll receive funding during each of the phases to support your progress and help you take your idea to the next level. If you’re successful in getting to phase four, we’ll also help you seek extra funding so that you have more than one source of investment and you’re well on your way to launching your product and making it a commercial success.

Your progress

When you join the Programme you’ll be expected to spend a minimum of 20 hours per week working on your project and attending core workshops at the Geovation Hub in London. Please take this into account when applying. It’s your chance to make the most of the Hub’s creative environment and have industry experts help nurture your idea. You’ll have regular meetings to review how you’re getting on, and how you progress through each phase will depend on your delivery against agreed milestones. Your eligibility for phase four will be based on the commercial viability of your prototype and is at the discretion of the Geovation Programme team.

About You

Who’s it for?

Developers. Innovators. Entrepreneurs. The Programme is particularly, though not exclusively, focused on those entering the spatial market-place for the first time. Whether you have an idea you’d like to explore, code you want to develop, an opportunity you have discovered or, are essentially inspired by the world around you and technology’s place in it; the Programme opens up a wealth of new opportunities. If you feel that you’re more of a social innovator looking to tackle global issues using location information, our Challenge could be for you.

What are we looking for? Ideas. Passion. Tenacity.

We know it’s not so much the idea that’s the key to innovation success, but the person behind it. Committed, passionate and tenacious, you’re likely to be thinking about your idea day and night, boring your family and friends with talk of it and working on it to the exclusion of all else. Your idea must be something you can develop, use or provide which relates to location information or technology and you’ll typically be a start-up looking to break into this market.
