PropTech Innovation Challenge – FAQ’s

Who can apply?
UK-registered companies with a valid company registration number. Each company may submit one proposal per problem statement.
Can I be a lead applicant on one proposal and a collaborator on another?
Yes. You may lead one proposal and act as a subcontractor/partner on others.
Can I use overseas resources or subcontractors?
Yes, as long as the resources are not from countries under embargo.
How much funding is available?
Up to £100,000 per application. You need to submit your ask in the proposal.
Is this considered match funding?
No, the funding is not considered match funding.
Can the funding be used for revenue-generating activities?
Yes, as long as the primary expectations of the challenge are met.
Will co-design partners receive funding?
Co-design partners will not receive direct funding from Geovation. However, applicants may choose to allocate part of their budget to compensate partners. This needs to be clearly laid out in your application.
Is partnership required?
No it is not a requirement, but it is highly encouraged. Co-design with partners (e.g., local authorities, developers) is essential to ensure real-world testing and impact.
Can I bring my own partners?
Absolutely. You are encouraged to bring your own partners. If you have submitted an EOI, you can access our matchmaking portal to connect with partners.
How does the matchmaking process work?
Applicants who submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) will receive access to a partner database. Applicants can then email challenge@geovation.uk stating the partners they are interested in to receive their contact information.
What is the bootcamp and is it mandatory?
The bootcamp is an in-person presentation in London (15–17 July). It is mandatory for shortlisted applicants (around 20) and forms 50% of the final assessment. Selected companies will be informed of which day they need to attend when they are notified of their selection.
What if I missed the Expression of Interest (EOI)?
You can still apply.
How will payments be made?
Payments will be made in arrears on submission of claims and are based on deliverables. Claim submissions should be made no less than two months apart
Who should be the lead applicant in a partnership?
The organisation responsible for delivery (typically the tech provider) should be the lead.
Are there any restrictions on company size?
There are no restrictions on company size.
